Hello! My name is Maryn. And I am a foodie-in-training.
I come from a family of foodies—parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, mis suegros… If there’s a family gathering, there is guaranteed to be very good food. When I was a teenager, instead of learning how to cook like my brother and sister, I would lock myself in my room with a sketchbook and Prismacolor pencils every night and spend countless hours drawing, coloring, and writing stories.
Fast forward 20 years, and now I am a mom with a family of my own. My husband’s family comes from the beautiful region of Guanajuato, Mexico, and my family roots traveled all the way from Eastern Europe. Together we are raising our son in a bilingual and bicultural household, and it’s time to start documenting our unique, colorful, family traditions. And like most family traditions, it begins at the dinner table. Afterall, food is a universal language.
So this is my journey to document my favorite recipes, learn how to cook, practicar mi español, turn food into art, and teach my son that his diverse family tree is full of flavor, color, y amor.
